Maria Spencer

Maria T. Spencer, MBA, PhD, is a business consultant and Team Lead for Entrepreneurship at the Penn State Small Business Development Center where she specializes in technology commercialization, strategic planning, human resources, and export trade development. She has worked with hundreds of businesses and entrepreneurs on business start-up and expansion as well as new product and workforce development initiatives.

Spencer is also an instructor for the Penn State College of Engineering where she teaches ENGR 804, Engineering Product Innovation.

Spencer has authored and co-authored multiple publications including: Business Model Innovation and its Impacts on Roles and Expectations: A Videon Case Study, Talent Management: A Step-by-Step Action-Oriented Guide Based on Best Practices, Optimizing Talent in the Federal Workforce, Best Practices in Federal Human Resource Management, and Action Research for Sustainable Change for the Encyclopedia of Human Resource Management.

Spencer’s research is focused facilitating change in organizations with a specific focus on the organizational impacts of continuous reconfiguration.
