Logan and Suzanne Yerger, partners in both life and business, are co-owners of Ascend Chiropractic and Wellness Center in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. With a shared background in chiropractic care and a passion for holistic health, they envisioned a center that blends traditional chiropractic treatment with proactive therapies like red light therapy and stress management.
After working together for seven years in a chiropractic office, the birth of their daughter inspired the couple to launch a family-friendly business—one that prioritized both community wellness and individual growth. In July 2024, they connected with the Penn State SBDC’s Chelsea Blair, who helped them shape their vision into a focused and actionable plan.
One of their biggest early challenges was finding a suitable space. Their unique needs—such as cold plunge tubs and showers—made leasing difficult, influencing a pivot toward purchasing property. With guidance from SBDC consultants Chelsea Blair and Tom Keiffer, the Yergers adjusted their timeline, refined their financial projections, and prepared for a business loan through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
Chelsea helped distill their ideas into a clear business model and strategic plan, while Tom offered in-depth financial analysis, giving them a realistic and confident outlook. They also worked with Penn State Dickinson Law Entrepreneur Assistant Clinic to establish the LLC and organize essential business documentation.
Ascend Chiropractic and Wellness Center will officially open in mid-July 2025. It has already created three part-time jobs and is introducing several wellness therapies to the region. The Yergers hope to offer Williamsport residents fun, healthy alternatives to traditional social activities, such as hopping in a sauna or taking a cold plunge with friends.
“The SBDC was a phenomenal sounding board,” Logan said. “They were a siphon for all the ideas buzzing in my head—able to filter the noise and pull-out tangible details.” With community at its core, Ascend Chiropractic and Wellness Center is poised to become a trusted hub for wellness in Central Pennsylvania.
