Entrepreneur Tanya Campbell is preparing to open The Whiskey Barber Salon in downtown State College in spring 2026, bringing her vision for a high-end grooming experience to life with support from the Penn State SBDC and other Penn State resources. Through assistance with business planning, financial projections, and funding strategy, Campbell secured a downtown grant and is launching a business expected to create up to 12 jobs while contributing to the local economy.

Three Penn State SBDC clients—Sweet Confections Cakes owners Darmayne and Willard Robertson Jr., CCSI, Inc. owner Pat Snyder, and Goot Essa owner John Esh, Jr.—were recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration for their outstanding achievements. Their success stories highlight the impact of small businesses in strengthening local economies, creating opportunities, and supporting communities across Pennsylvania.
