Madi Ferencz, a passionate stylist and entrepreneur, is bringing modern and affordable beauty services to Reedsville, Pennsylvania, with the launch of Hello Beautiful Hair Co.
Madi’s journey in the beauty industry began in high school when she worked as an assistant at a local salon. After graduating from beauty school in 2022, she set her sights on owning her own salon—creating a space where clients could feel confident and cared for.
As a young entrepreneur, Madi faced hurdles in securing funding and meeting regulatory requirements, The business loan process was lengthened by the need for a co-signer, and navigating state board regulations added complexity-especially during the busy holiday season. However, with guidance from the Penn State Small Business Development Center (SBDC), Madi successfully structured her business, met regulatory requirements, and stayed on track to open her dream salon.
SBDC consultant Chelsea Blair worked closely with Madi, assisting with financial projections, connecting her to the Penn State Dickinson Law Entrepreneur Assistance Clinic, and ensuring she had the necessary resources to launch. Madi first learned about the SBDC through a family friend, who had ties to a local senator’s office in Lewistown. With expert support, she navigated the process smoothly and built a strong foundation for her business. Madi stated, “I had no idea where to begin, but the SBDC walked me through every step. Their support made all the difference in turning my dream into a reality.”
While Hello Beautiful Hair Co. plans for an official opening this spring, it is already open for business, and Madi’s vision is clear. She aims to bring hair extensions and modern coloring techniques to Mifflin County—services not widely available in the area. Looking ahead, she hopes to expand her offerings, collaborate with vendors, and host community events like “sip and curl” nights at local wineries.
With the Penn State SBDC’s support, Madi Ferencz has transformed her dream into a reality. As the first in her family to own a business, she is carving her own path—building a salon that reflects her passion for beauty, self-care, and community.
